Description:
This course is designed to give students an opportunity to explore a future in Healthcare. Basic skills and standards of conduct common to all health care professions along with specialized skills in Nursing Assisting, Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy/Lab Technology, Physical/Occupational Therapy and Emergency Medical Technology and will be covered throughout the three years of the course.
Program Certifications:
Students completing the Healthcare Careers Program will receive OSHA Workplace Safety Certification, American Safety and Health Institute CPR/AED Certification and Pennsylvania Personal Care Assistant Certification.
Upon program complete on, students take the NOCTI (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute) Assessment which includes both a written and practical component.
Post-Secondary Opportunities:
All CTE students are eligible for dual-enrollment opportunities through PA’s SOAR (Students Occupationally and Academically Ready) Program. In conjunction with the Guidance Department, students are given a range of post-graduation options from employment to full-time college enrollment.
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO):
Delaware Valley HOSA (Future Health Professionals) is an extra-curricular club where all DV students may explore healthcare careers. There are over 50 competitive events available to students as well as non-competitive roles. For more information see www.hosa.org
